Consumers around the world have finally awoken to the potential of a mobile payments-powered world. Apple Pay is getting a fair amount of credit for this fact, and perhaps rightly so, but both Starbucks and Uber deserve equal praise for their roles in conveying the magic of this technology. But for all this awareness, the market remains incredibly wide open. Competitors like PayPal, Google, and Square each have their own offerings in the market, and collectively these giants are all engaged in a global land grab for brick-and-mortar and online merchant adoption.
