Google is making another play for financial services by opening a mortgage comparison service. It only works in its home state of California, but Google doesn’t do small and is no doubt prepping a national roll-out. Google’s size, cash reserves and investments in fintech startups (LendUp, Upstartup, OnDeck) means it’s got the reach to go much further than this. Payments is one area in which Google is very active, if so far unsuccessful. It’s also well poised to use its data to transform insurance. Here are three areas in fintech Google could disrupt.
