Here's a confidence and monetary boost for Monitise, the UK mobile payments company that appeared to be losing Visa as an investor, but has now gained Mastercard. And Telefónica. And Santander. The three are investing a combined £49.2m in Monitise, according to a statement on Thursday, and the company will work with all three on mobile payment services. The company is also getting some artificial intelligence backing from IBM. It said it was deepening its collaboration with Big Blue, including the deployment of Watson, IBM's cognitive computing and machine-learning technology.
